So... what is this, and what is the point?

This is about all of the computers I've own from the day I started using computers, to the current day. I've went through 5 laptops already, and now I'm left with just 1. (And spoiler alert, 4/5 laptops I had are all hand-me-downs)

I want to do this because... idk, why not

How did I get it

I got it in late 2015, whilist preparing for a math competition. I initially want to get something really cheap (aka something with an AWFUL Celeron CPU), which... my dad obviously does not want, and tbh it's for the best. I think we spent about 350$ for that laptop, which is not a terrible price (at least for that time and for our knowledge about laptops). Also, this is the only laptop here that's not a hand-me-down in one way or another.

How it is now, and what do I think of it

So, in 2018, my brother had to study high school pretty far away from home; and we have decided that it's best for him to bring that laptop away and use it for his studies (and probably gaming too). It lasted 1 year there, before it seems to get a BSoD and then dies unceremoniously. Later on (in about 2020) we've decided to sell the laptop (because it's waste to keep it in the house anyways), and found out that it's still alive, but just barely. I think we get about 70$ back on the laptop, which is not that bad of a price knowing how battered the laptop must have been there.

For me, the laptop is... rather OK (mostly because I have not known much about laptops at that time). It performed pretty well for day-to-day usages, and even the 4GB of RAM is not that restrictive in the time I've used it (probably would completely die now though). However... the Wi-Fi card in this laptop is ABSOLUTE GARBAGE. It dies like every 3-4 minutes, and it drove us insane. Guess it's what happens when you buy a sub-400$ laptop though.

How did I get it

So after my brother brought that laptop away, I was left with this laptop; which, in turn, is a hand-me-down from my dad (who upgraded his laptop to the next laptop on the list). As I heard from my dad, he spent about 600$ for that machine, and he used it for quite a lot of graphics-based workloads (from doing CAD to Photoshop). The laptop is beaten up pretty decently, since I think I also used the laptop for other stuffs before I actually owned it, and I definitely did not do the best keeping the laptop in a good shape. And after some time, the CPU (or the power delivery system to the CPU) started to die (when the CPU gets stuck at 0.8GHz forever, which makes the laptop very much unusable).

How it is now, and what do I think about it

I used this laptop for about 2 years, until when my dad upgraded his laptop to a proper gaming laptop, which I'll talk about later. And it's left there untouched for like the next 3-4 years, before I sold it for... absolutely NOTHING (tbh it's understandable since the laptop is like 99% dead already, but still it's a bit sad).

For me, the time I'm using this laptop was the time I start to explore the world of tech in greater detail. I remmbered trying to install Ubuntu into this machine (and then still mostly use Windows for some reason... Screw you Microsoft btw), and also learnt about how to use ThrottleStop in order to make the CPU escape from the 0.8GHz land of hell. Overall it aged really poorly, but I had a good time with it.
